The seedy hotel where you’ll be safe

Standaard

Blue Moon Hotel: A great jazzy song with a dark story from the master singer-songwriter David Olney. David tells us the story behind this song, which is part of the album Film Noir. The hotel, he says, becomes a metaphor for something else: “A place to escape to after you’ve done something drastic–the seedy hotel where you’ll be safe”

A bed, a blanket and a pillow

not much more than a prison cell

But the price is cheap

and I could sure use some sleep

Welcome to the Blue Moon Hotel
